~Our New Basement Floor~

We are so excited to see the hard work that we’ve (well mostly Randy) been putting into the basement pay off.  We put in the laminate floor and most of the baseboards this weekend and started to set up the living room again.  There is still lots of work to be done down there but it is liveable again and as we can afford it we will get stuff done.

Anyhow, it looks AWESOME!!!  I love dark wood floors. And the white trim.  And the walls.  And the wall mount TV. well I won’t lie I love it all.  So let’s get to the pictures shall we???

Ethan was Daddy’s little helper…for like half an hour.  It took us about 6 hours to put it in, and Randy made like 500 trips to the garage to cut.  He is so sore today it isn’t even funny!

We just did the main living area in laminate. The stairs, hallway and bedroom down here will be done in carpet this fall.  We got an area rug when we were in Edmonton last time for a great price that we put in the middle of the floor and warm it up a bit.  I realize now that it isn’t the best match for the room but it’s here and we’ve got it…

I’m so excited to have it done!  I even pulled out my new lamps that I bought before Christmas and we hung our TV!!!  It looks so good, don’t you think?

Here are some pictures from where we came from…

Isn’t that a dramatic change?  Good-bye 70’s hello 2011!!!

We still have quite a bit left to do though.  We have to buy the carpet and install it.  We have to build our bookcases and Ethan’s shelving for his play area.  We have to finish molding.  We have to buy the tile and shower pan for the bathroom.  Plus finish the cabinetry and countertops in there.  Probably a good $2000 worth of work left.  And countless hours of work.  We are taking a break from it for the month of August though…it’s time to enjoy the weather and have some family time.  Starting tomorrow, August 1st….keep your eyes peeled for pictures!  We’ve still got to go berry picking, playing at the splash park, picnics, playing in the river…we’re just hoping that summer sticks around a bit later so we can get more of it in!
