Well we were hardly home this weekend. On Friday night we went to the home of a guy that Randy works with, Terry. Him and his wife, Wavey (cool name eh?) insisted that we spend the evening with them watching movies. Then on Saturday I spent the day cleaning the house, doing all the laundry and sitting in front of the TV while Randy was at work. Instead of working, Randy and Terry ended up working on Terry's truck because the heater went out. So Randy didn't get home until suppertime to tell me that Terry & Wavey wanted us over for supper that night to thank Randy for helping with the truck. He said that he would be home in about an hour to pick me up...hahaha....he didn't get home for 3 hours!!! Needless to say, baby and I were starving by then. Then I find out that supper is pizza and breadsticks...heartburn hell! So I had half a slice of pizza, 2 breadsticks and called it supper. We watched another movie that night...another late night. So today we sleep in, get up to a nice breakie at home. Then I had to get up and do a move-in at noon while Randy went with Terry again to finish working on the truck. After all that we had some running around to do and then found ourselves at Terry & Waveys' again at 3pm for dinner and movies again. This time Wavey made a traditional Newfie dinner. We had Jig's dinner, cabbage, and the yummiest roast beef I've ate in years followed by lemon meringue pie. Yummo!
For my American friends: A Newfie is a person that is from the province of Newfoundland, they are entirely their own culture there! A jig's dinner is salted beef with turnips, potatoes and carrots. The first time for us and we loved it! Salted beef reminds me of ham, Randy said it tasted like pickled meat. It was good, just a little fatty for us, I would definately have it again.
A fun weekend all in all. Hardly any cooking for me, woohoo! Nice to spend our weekend in a family atmosphere, Terry & Wavey have 4 kids, 2 are still at home. So it was really nice for us. Terry comes from a huge family like me so we had fun comparing stuff from growing up with a whole lot of siblings. Tomorrow is back at work for me...hoping it goes by quickly. I'm starting to be uncomfortable sitting for long periods of time and the stairs are killing me so I can't wait to be done working. Like 5 more weeks left I think.
On to other news...Randy FINALLY felt the baby kick tonight. He has been trying now for the last couple of weeks to catch a kick but couldn't feel it. Tonight he did and he had a smile from ear to ear when the baby booted him. It was awesome to share that together.
So it's late Sunday night and I need to head to bed soon. Hope everyone had a great weekend, I know Chantel is happy tonight, her hubby just got off the plane from a trip to Houston! Have a great week!
