The Memory Keeper’s Daughter by Kim Edwards was a thought provoking look at a mans struggle to keep a dark secret from his wife. It starts out with her giving birth to twins. She is told that her daughter dies. In truth, her husband; a doctor, realizes that she has Down Syndrome and sends her off to live in an institution. Her life leads her down a different path and the book goes through how that single decision impacted the lives of countless people, and most of all himself.
I confess to not being able to put it down. The words flowed well and the story was so well written I felt like I was a part of it. I will be looking in to more work by Kim Edwards since this one was such a page turner!
I’m so glad to have gotten in a book to read while at home on my last week of holidays! I have 7 more sitting here from the library to read right now also! Guess I have some more to do!
