A New Day, A New Story...

Well what a crazy, stressful week this has been! Yuck, I don't want to do that again! So after a sleepless night and lots of tears we now have some stuff figured out. We don't have to leave right away...we are staying till likely March 20 (so far) because they want me to stay until I go on maternity leave. They are going to keep Randy on and let us keep our unit for free until I go on Mat leave. That was the deal I negotiated with them in order for me to stay. So now we are waiting to talk to Brent, if he has work lined up for right away then we will leave with him next week and I will move to Grande Prairie and find a place to rent. If not then we stay here till either he has work or I go on mat leave, whichever makes the most sense at the time. The goal is to not screw up my maternity leave so that is why we will stay. We have no loyalty to this company any more, we understand why they did what they did, just not a fan of some of the methods...Our loyalty is with Brent..he has kept his promises and treated Randy fairly and will continue to provide for us. But we would be stupid to just skip town without a job and somewhere to go if we don't have to. Trust me, I want out of this town...bad...I don't like how remote it is and the fact that you can't just go shopping for everything you want. I can't imagine having my baby here and having no Walmart...I know, LOL!

So on Monday when Brent is back we will know what the deal is...are we staying or are we going. I've looked into rentals in GP and they are available and not as expensive as we thought. We could afford it, we have emergency money but why not just have the chance to save more. We should be able to put another 2 months of living expenses in our bank account by staying here. So we are feeling a bit torn about it since all these people we work with are laid off and have no chance of finding another job here and we are able to stay but know it won't be forever. It's a catch 22...

Anyhow, thought I would update the situation. Still not fully resolved but it is looking a little more clear and safe for now.
