As the World Spins...

Can you believe our luck? The lumber mill in town announced today that they are closing their doors within the next six months. What does that mean to us? No job. Shut down renovations. No tenants for me to rent to. No where to live possibly. Can it get any better then that???? Also means 435 layoffs for people that live in this community. Say a prayer for them...they are losing their lives...their housing prices plummented today, the recreation center the town was building was shut down today, and 1400 people will probably leave this town within a year. So sad. I'm grateful that we will survive this without much harm other then having to likely move again.

Looking at this event with fresh eyes today after hearing the news yesterday (I didn't finish my post last night) I realize it might not be that bad for us. They still have many industries that are flourishing here now that will support this town. They may not be able to absorb all the lost jobs but the town will not shut down. It is amazing although how much of an impact that this will make on the town regardless. The mayor was on the radio today talking to the town about this and you could tell that it has shook her to the core. No one could have predicted that this would happen here this soon.

As for us, we don't know yet. I notified Northern Property as soon as I got the news last night and had to compile a huge pile of demographics for them today to help them to make their decisions. I imagine that we will hear on Monday what our future holds with this company. I'm fairly confident that we will be here for a little while longer though. There is work to be done that cannot just be walked away from. My hope is that they pull the second crew out of here and leave all the work to us so that we can get a few months out of it. Our biggest fear is that we may end up with a move on our hands too close to my due date. So as a result we are considering me moving in with a family member until baby is born if we have uncertainty still in the air. So not sure. I know that we are doing alot of thinking on what we can do to avoid a complete disaster for ourselves. So please send up a prayer for us. We don't need any speeches about our decision to move here from anyone. We are, and always will be, risk takers. We aren't afraid to try something and if it fails, oh well, we are all the better for having tried it. We have learned so much from our life experiences that many people will never scratch the surface on. So we have no regrets.
My next post is a new mantra for us...
