What a long drive that was today. Took almost 4 hours coming back from Mom's. Stupid drivers and construction and two teenagers with me so we did a couple of stops.
I went home on Thursday for a funeral. My sister Thelma's significant other Garry passed away last Thursday. So the funeral was on Thursday this week. It was a beautiful service and very touching as it was a legion funeral. Garry was the President of the local legion for many years and so they honored him with the march of the colors, the last post and the placing of the poppies. My sister is holding up quite well and looking forward to some quiet time by herself.
Many of my family members were in town for the funeral so we had a huge supper at Mom's house last night. Mary and I sweet talked Mom into making fried chicken. Mmmmmmm! My Momma's fried chicken is the best there is. We had her cook 4 chickens and there were barely any leftovers. I managed to sneak a plate for Randy that I brought home for him today because he wasn't able to go with me. We got some nice pictures of us girls on the deck with Mom too. Here is the pic that Thelma sent me today.
So it goes from left to right, Mom, Thelma, me, Charleen, Mary and Helen. Thelma is the oldest, I'm the youngest, Charleen is like the 3rd or 4th oldest Mary is next to me and Helen is the 4th or 5th youngest. Did that make sense?!?! LOL!
It turned out nice though. We were just sitting on Mom's deck hanging out and chatting and Thelma's daughter Leslie was there and she does Photography for a living so we decided to get her to take some pics of us. I'm going to get her to send me some of the ones she took with her camera too.
So this morning before I left Mary and I dyed my hair. I was scared cause I've never done an at home dye job before on my hair. But it turned out really good! Just the color I was looking for! I have a purple forehead right now, LOL but that will go away.
I'm counting down the days till my holidays!!! Only 13 more days!!! I can't wait. You have no idea!!! We decided to slip into Las Vegas for 3 days because Randy's Aunt has to work for a couple of days while we are there. So we rented rooms at the Tropicana and got tickets for Cirque de Soleil (as I've already posted). Other than that we will be seeing the sites, Melissa was just there at Christmas so she tells us that we need to hit the Wax Museum, and the outlet malls are definitely on my list! Shoes here I come!!! I plan on buying like 4 new pairs and chucking my old ones! I can't wait!
We get there on the Saturday and on Sunday we are going out on the lake water skiing and boating. That should be fun, I've never waterskiied before so I'm not sure if I'm brave enough to try it but I'm sure I will definitely go tubing. We'll spend a couple of days in the city checking out the Mormon Temple and the sites and just getting to know each other a bit better. I've never met Randy's Aunt before at all! We're not sure if his Mom is coming with us still. She's having trouble getting the time off. So we'll see!
But anyhow, I'm going to go make some supper and just chill out for the evening. I've had a whirlwind couple of days and I need to chillax before I got back to work tomorrow.
